Holiday Inn Midtown workers' protest affects TIFF visitorsTORONTO -- The rolling hotel strikes at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday spread to the Holiday Inn Midtown on Bloor Street.
Unionized workers with Unite Here Local 75 walked off the job at the hotel at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning for a planned 24-hour strike, disrupting hotel guests, including film buyers, sellers and publicists.
A similar one-day work stoppage struck the Royal York Hotel on Front Street on Friday, and yet another one is planned Sunday for the Hyatt Regency on King Street, TIFF's host hotel.
Unite Here workers are looking for a new deal with Westmount-run hotels in Toronto after being without a contract since July 16.
