Toronto 2012: Roadside Attractions Nabs Sarah Polley's 'Stories We Tell'
The film also is acquired by Artificial Eye for the United Kingdom, Palace Films for Australia and Gutek Film for Poland.
Roadside Attractions has nabbed Sarah Polley's documentary Stories We Tell.
The deal comes on the heels of stellar reviews for the autobiographical film out of the Venice, Telluride and Toronto festivals. Stories We Tell -- written and directed by Polley, who also appears in the film -- weaves together home movies, interviews and narration to examine the repercussions of her family's long-held secrets that finally are coming to light.

Roadside plans an early 2013 theatrical release in the U.S. The film also was acquired by Artificial Eye for the U.K., Palace Films for Australia and Gutek Film for Poland.
"In fearlessly laying bare her family's most intimate moments and remembrances, Sarah allows us, as audience members, to reflect on each of our own family histories, both real and fabricated," Roadside co-president Eric d'Arbeloff said. "With Stories We Tell, Sarah again proves herself a master of translating the specific into the universal and stakes her claim as one of today's greatest young filmmakers."
Anita Lee from the National Film Board of Canada produced the film.
Roadside co-president Howard Cohen negotiated the deal with the National Film Board of Canada's Christina Rogers.
