TORONTO -- New online portals and their effect on independent movie distribution will be among the major talking points at the Toronto International Film Festival's industry sessions unveiled Monday.

Toronto's Telefilm Canada News & Views symposium has scheduled New Online Portal" for Sept. 6. Executives scheduled to participate include Romen Podzyhun, president and CEO of Channel Zero; Peter Bradley, vp of business development at Azureus; Pierre-Alexandre Labelle, consultant/project Manager with UniverseCine; and Kathleen J. Powell, vp of worldwide programming at Jaman participating.

Toronto also has scheduled Social Networks: Connecting Filmmakers to Audiences for Sept. 8, with guest speakers to include MySpace content producer Christine Moore and producer Corey Marr.

Rounding out the industry sessions in Toronto is In the Mix: Discussing Music and Film, a Sept. 12 panel featuring Canadian music producer-artist Daniel Lanois, filmmaker Ed Gass-Donnelly and musician-producer Dave Mackinnon.

The Toronto International Film Festival is set to run Sept. 6-15.
