The distributor acquired the Amanda Knox-inspired pic for UK/Ireland and Canada

Soda Pictures has picked up Michael Winterbottom’s Amanda Knox-inspired The Face of an Angel for the UK/Ireland and Canadian markets.

The Daniel Bruhl and Cara Delevingne-starrer is a fictionalized adaptation of the best-selling book Angel Face by Barbie Latza Nadeau about the first Amanda Knox trial.

The deal was negotiated by Eve Gabereau of Soda Pictures and Eve Schoukroun and Fabien Westerhoff of WestEnd Films.

UK-based Soda Pictures earlier in the Toronto Film Festival announced it had been acquired by Vancouver-based Thunderbird Films to launch a distribution outfit in Canada.

Soda Pictures also picked up the Canadian rights to Lone Scherfig's The Riot Club.

The Face of an Angel, which investigates the 2007 murder of British student Meredith Kercher in Italy, also stars Kate Beckinsale.
