Toronto: Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Nabs Elizabeth Olsen's 'Therese' for Multiple Territories
Exclusive Media inked the deal for the big-screen adaptation of Emile Zola's provocative thriller, which also stars Oscar Isaac, Tom Felton and Jessica Lange.
TORONTO -- Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has inked a multi-territory deal for Therese, the big-screen adaptation of Emile Zola's novel Therese Raquin starring Elizabeth Olsen.
The movie also boasts Oscar Isaac, Tom Felton and Jessica Lange in the romantic thriller set in 1860s Paris.
It details the story of Therese, a sexually repressed young woman trapped into a loveless marriage to her sickly cousin, who embarks on an illicit affair that leads to tragedy.
Directed and written by Charlie Stratton, it also stars Shirley Henderson, John Kavanagh, Mackenzie Crook and Matt Lucas.
SPWA sealed the deal with Exclusive Media taking the title for the U.K., Germany, Austria, Scandinavia, Benelux and Latin America.
Alex Walton, president of international sales and distribution at Exclusive Media, negotiated the deal with executive vp business affairs Michael Helfand, vp acquisitions Chan Phung and vp business development Jon Freedberg on behalf of SPWA.
Produced by Mickey Liddell CEO of LD Entertainment, Pete Shilaimon and William Horberg of Wonderful Films, Richard Sharkey, Jennifer Monroe and Stratton serve as the film’s executive producers.
Roadside Attractions is releasing the film theatrically in the U.S.
