'Touch''s Kiefer Sutherland, EP Tim Kring to Join Fox's Kevin Reilly at Mipcom
PARIS - MIPCOM attendees will be able to get a feel for Fox’s new drama series Touch when the show’s star Kiefer Sutherland and exec producer Tim Kring join Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly for his keynote in Cannes, Reed MIDEM said on Monday.
Fox will screen an extended trailer during Reilly’s Media Mastermind keynote on Oct. 4. Touch stars Sutherland as a widower and single father who finds out his autistic son can see things that no one else can and connect ostensibly unrelated events.
After the keynote and trailer screening, Kring and Sutherland will join Reilly for an open Q&A session about the series that blends science and spirituality. The “Showrunner Masterclass” will focus on the necessary tools to develop a successful TV show in today’s constantly changing media landscape.
“During my keynote session, I plan to explore creativity in the connected age, and I can’t think of a better show than Touch – or two better creative minds than Tim Kring and Kiefer Sutherland – to help drive that discussion,” Reilly said. Director of Reed MIDEM’s TV division Laurine Garaude added: “MIPCOM is all about bringing together great television, great talent and providing great opportunities for delegates to access both.”
Fox has ordered 13 episodes of Touch that the network will debut for U.S. audiences next Spring.
The 20th Century Fox Television, Tailwind Productions and Chernin Entertainment production co-stars Danny Glover and Gugu Mbatha-Raw and is exec-produced by Kring, Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Katherine Pope, Sutherland and Suzan Bymel. Reilly added: “Touch is a surprising and special drama. From its international scope and big themes to a central character who doesn’t speak a word, the show strives to break new ground for television.” This year’s MIPCOM market will kick off in Cannes on Oct. 3.
