'Toy Story 3' passes 10 bil yen in Japan
Second Disney film this year to do so, with 'Alice'TOKYO -- Disney’s “Toy Story 3” has passed the 10 billion yen ($118 million) mark, the studio’s second production to do so this year, and in record time for a foreign animated production.
Woody and the gang pulled in 10.06 billion yen in the 52 days to August 30 -- one day shorter than “Finding Nemo” took to pass the landmark – although the higher 3D ticket prices have boosted takings from 691,000 admissions.
“Alice in Wonderland” also pulled in over 10 billion yen for Disney in Japan this year.
“Toy Story 3” has taken over $1 billion worldwide.
