John Travolta will be honored as Hollywood Supporting Actor of the Year at the 11th annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony on Oct. 22 at the Beverly Hilton.

Fest executive director Carlos de Abreu said Travolta's performance as the hefty and all-heart Edna Turnblad in Adam Shankman's "Hairspray" stood out this year.

"His superb performance should be acknowledged and enjoyed by the established film industry as well as the public at large," de Abreu said.

Travolta, whose career spans three decades, joins "Hairspray" producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, who will be awarded the fest's Hollywood Producers of the Year Award.

They join fellow honorees Ben and Casey Affleck, Jennifer Connelly, Marion Cotillard, screenwriter Christopher Hampton, director Brad Bird and VFX supervisor Scott Farrar.

The 11th annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood Awards is presented by Starz Entertainment.
