Trey Songz, Taye Diggs Join 'Baggage Claim'
The two join a cast that includes Paula Patton, Derek Luke, and Djimon Hounsou.
Grammy-nominated R&B artist Trey Songz and Private Practice star Taye Diggs have joined the cast of Baggage Claim, Fox Searchlight’s adaptation of a novel written by David E. Talbert.
Talbert wrote the screenplay and is directing the romantic comedy about a 35-year-old flight attendant determined not to show up to her baby sister's engagement party without a fiance of her own and begins searching for a man while on the job.
Paula Patton is starring as the flight attendant, named Montana Moore, with Derek Luke, Adam Brody and Djimon Hounsou also on board.
Songz will play a man with plenty of swagger who is living the life of a big-time record producer.
Diggs is playing a politically-minded man with eyes on Congress who wants a wife on a tight leash.
Shooting begins this month in Los Angeles. Steven J. Wolfe is the producer.
Songz, repped by ICM Partners, is making a push into movies even as he rides high on the music charts. (His latest album, Chapter V, recently hit number one on the Billboard 200 chart.) The Baggage Claim role is his second feature gig after wrapping a leading part in Millemnnium’s Texas Chainsaw 3D. Lionsgate opens the horror movie January 4, 2013.
Diggs has starred as Dr. Sam Bennett on Private Practice since 2007. He has The Trials of Kate McCall, a drama starring Kate Beckinsale, in the can. He is repped by ICM Partners, A Management, and Franklin Weinrib.
