It seemed to be a matter of when, not if, Lewandowski took on a paid contributor role with a TV network.

Former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski is joining CNN effective immediately, a network spokesperson confirms.

Politico, which broke the news, reports that it is a salaried and exclusive position as a political commentator.

Lewandowski, who had been at Trump's side even before his presidential campaign was announced, was fired Monday morning, and four hours later sat down with CNN's Dana Bash in New York for a nearly 30-minute live interview.

It seemed to be a matter of when, not if, Lewandowski took on a paid contributor role with a TV network.

CNN already has Trump surrogate Roger Stone on the payroll, and MSNBC has former Ted Cruz campaign spokesperson Rick Tyler signed on.
