Tupac Biopic Taps Newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr. for Lead Role
Benny Boom is directing 'All Eyez on Me' for Morgan Creek.
Newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr. has been cast in the lead role of Morgan Creek's Tupac Shakur biopic, All Eyez On Me, which has begun filming.
Shipp — who bears a striking resemblance to Shakur — has only one previous credit listed on his IMDB profile: an upcoming TV movie #unlock'd, produced by CRT Productions.
Benny Boom, a music video and commercial director, is helming the project for Morgan Creek, which has been developing it for some years. If Morgan Creek hadn't begun production by the end of the year, music rights would have reverted back Shakur's mother, Afeni Shakur.
James G. Robinson and David Robinson are producting for Morgan Creek, along with Program Picdtures' LT Hutton. Afeni Shakur is executive producer.
Shipp, Jr. has shared several more photos and videos from the film's set.
News of the casting was first reported by TMZ.
