Barbra Held has been appointed vp event production.

The TV Academy has appointed Barbra Held to a new position as vp event production, it was announced Monday by Academy president/COO Maury McIntyre.

This position was created in response to growth in the number of events and programs being planned for a new theater and media center which will be completed in early 2016.

Held will serve as a liaison between the production, network and internal Academy teams that run events including the Emmy awards show and the Governors Ball. She will not take charge of these events, but will help supervise the logistics and planning.

In addition, Held will oversee the technical operations, special events and activity at the new center located on the Academy’s North Hollywood campus.

“Barbra’s more than 15 years experience in producing successful high-profile events,” said McIntyre, “will be extremely valuable as the Television Academy looks to elevate and expand the programming and events it offers to our members, aspiring professionals.”

Held previously ran one of the largest promotional campaigns by a foreign government in the U.S. as the vp events & marketing for the Australian government’s G’Day USA campaign.

This campaign includes a gala and televised award show.

In addition, she served as the associate vp domestic marketing at the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau and the special events manager at the Los Angeles Times.

“This is an extraordinary time to join the Academy,” said Held, “as it prepares to unveil its spectacular new theatre and media center, which will enable the organization to produce events that are more exciting, thought-provoking and digitally accessible than ever before.”
