TV ads boost TVA bottom line

Revenue up from 2007

TORONTO -- Higher TV ad revenue helped Quebec broadcaster TVA Group post CAN$5.7 million ($5.64 million) in first-quarter earnings, up sixfold from a profit of CAN$936,000 in 2007.

Revenue for the three months ending March 31 at TVA, a division of Quebecor Media, stood at CAN$106.46 million ($105 million), compared with a year-earlier CAN$93.33 million.

In addition to its over-the-air TV network and cable channels in Quebec, TVA operates TV production and film distribution arms.
