Horvitz helming Emmys

Five-time Emmy winner Louis J. Horvitz is set to direct the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards, broadcast Sept. 21 on ABC from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Horvitz most recently directed the Primetime Emmys in 2006 and more recently helmed the 80th Annual Academy Awards in February, marking his 12th year directing the Oscars.

Alexander 'Early' riser

CBS News said Betsy Alexander has been named a senior producer of "The Early Show." She will be in charge of the morning show's lifestyle segments, senior vp Paul Friedman said. The veteran of network news had been vp of iVillage, the NBC Uni-owned female-targeted Internet site. From 1999-2007, Alexander was a senior producer at "Today" in charge of lifestyle segments.

Saving the best

Vanessa Williams has been tapped to host the sixth annual TV Land Awards, taping June 8 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica and premiering at 9 p.m. June 15. In additon, this year's show will honor Mike Myers, Garry Marshall, "Roseanne," "The Golden Girls" and Jonathan Winters, among others.

McHoul Exits UTA

Kary McHoul has departed UTA a year after she left her post as senior vp alternative at Fox to become co-head of UTA's alternative TV department with Brett Hansen. The management structure of the division changed in February when top CAA reality agent Michael Camacho joined UTA as partner and head of the alternative department. McHoul is said to have left the agency for personal reasons.
