McMahon in giving mood

World Wrestling Entertainment chairman Vince McMahon said during USA Network's "Monday Night Raw" that he's giving away $1 million of his own money "to show appreciation to the viewers of 'Monday Night Raw' in the United States." Details about the cash giveaway will be revealed next week.

HALLMARK ROOM SERVICE

Hallmark Channel and the Hotel Networks, a subsidiary of LodgeNet Interactive, said that starting Sunday, the network will be featured on channel lineups in upscale properties representing 360,000 hotel rooms as part of a multiyear agreement. Hotels that will carry Hallmark include those within such chains as Hilton, Grand Hyatt, Omni, Marriott and Embassy Suites. The rooms will deliver an average of 8 million unique potential viewers per month based on projected occupancy rates.

POLLACK GETS NBC PICKUP

In the first post-upfront pilot order, NBC has handed out a cast-contingent pickup to an untitled comedy from writer Jon Pollack (NBC's "30 Rock"). The single-camera project, from Universal Media Studios, centers on a powerful woman in the high-stakes world of hedge funds.

'ANDROMEDA' STRONG

Part 1 of A&E's miniseries "The Andromeda Strain" averaged 4.8 million total viewers, including 2.5 million adults 18-49 and 2.7 million adults 25-54, according to Nielsen's Fast Cable ratings. That makes the telecast, which aired at 9 p.m. Monday, the second-most-watched A&E program ever.
