Empty'Cheetah' Sprints FOR DISNEY CHANNEL
Disney Channel's original movie "The Cheetah Girls: One World" came out on a high note in its debut at 8 p.m. Friday. The movie averaged 6.2 million total viewers, including 2.8 million kids 6-11 and 2.4 million tweens 9-14, making it the night's No. 1 TV telecast in both demos.
Lopez joins 'Group'
Mario Lopez, host of MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew," has signed on to host another MTV series, the live music competition "MTV's Top Pop Group," which premieres Sept. 11. "Group," which features music groups competing for $100,000, is produced by BBC Worldwide America.
CBS taps Sullivan
James Sullivan has been named president of sales at CBS Television Stations. Sullivan, who was president of national sales, will continue to oversee that function, which handles spot sales for 29 CBS-owned local stations nationwide.
'Bingo'! Karn in
Richard Karn has been tapped to host the second season of GSN's "Bingo America," which returns Oct. 6. Patrick Duffy was the show's original host.
Ion spruces up
Ion Media Networks is entering the fall season with a new on-air look to complement a fresh batch of primetime programming. The broadcaster plans to unveil the tagline "Positively Entertaining" along with a new logo in support of the addition of "NCIS," "Boston Legal" and "ER" to its schedule starting Sept. 8.
Smith to Meteor
Meteor Worldwide, which focuses on branded entertainment, has tapped former NBC Universal executive Syd Smith as group CEO.
'Star' turn for Meade
Headline News anchor Robin Meade is set to host Great American Country's live finale of "Next GAC Star," airing Sept. 10.
