Twentieth TV has started clearing "How I Met Your Mother" in off-network broadcast syndication. Stations clearing the comedy for a fall 2010 launch include the Fox O&Os in New York, L.A. and Chicago.

Stephen Colbert is getting into the holiday spirit on Comedy Central. The network said Tuesday that it will air "A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!" an hourlong original musical holiday special, at 10 p.m. Nov. 23. It will feature musical performances by Colbert, Jon Stewart, Elvis Costello, Feist, Toby Keith, John Legend and Willie Nelson.

POEHLER'S 'NIGHT' ENDing

Amy Poehler will leave "Saturday Night Live" after the November election. Poehler said she will go on maternity leave after the election and won't return to "SNL" after giving birth. Instead, she will focus on her upcoming NBC series.

MCHALE SINGS FOR 'GLEE'

Kevin McHale has been added to Fox's hourlong comedy pilot "Glee." McHale, repped by Acme and MC Talent Management, will play Arty Abrams, a wheelchair-bound member of the Glee Club.

NBC on Tuesday unveiled new online tie-in content to help promote its fall shows. The content includes "Chuck" webisodes, a "Heroes vs. Villains" social networking site for "Heroes," a quiz for "Kath & Kim" and new character blogs for "The Office," "Life" and "My Name Is Earl."
