SHAW BROS. ENDS TVB TALKS

Shaw Brothers Hong Kong has ended all discussions regarding the sale of its stake in broadcaster TVB. In an announcement released to the Hong Kong stock exchange on Tuesday, the company said that it has been approached by potential buyers for its 26% stake in TVB but that negotiations have been terminated in view of the "tumultuous situation in the financial markets."

'HOT WHEELS' RACES TO TV

Canadian cartoon producer Nelvana and Mattel Entertainment are bringing a new "Hot Wheels" series to TV. Nelvana and Nerd Corps Entertainment will bring the toy car racing franchise to life with 26 half-hours of CG-animated "Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5." The series bows in the fall on Cartoon Network and on Teletoon in Canada.

ABC SET ON 'STONE'

ABC has ordered four more scripts of "Eli Stone," sources said. The drama returned for its Season 2 premiere Tuesday night.



ABC's preemptive order from ABC Studios suggests the network is pleased with the creative direction of the show's new season.
