TOMPKINS DOES HIS 'BEST'

VH1 has revamped its "Best Week Ever" series, tapping Paul F. Tompkins as the full-time host. "VH1's Best Week Ever With Paul F. Tompkins" debuts at 11 p.m. Oct. 24 and will include many returning cast members.

'BAND' BONUS

MTV is extending "Making the Band" with "bonus" episodes debuting in early 2009. The story lines will continue with the remaining members of Danity Kane, their labelmates Day26 and Donnie Klang as they embark on the next phases of their careers.

'MISSING' FOUND OUTSIDE

Outside magazine's TV division, Outside Television, has partnered with the Travel Channel to produce a pilot for a mystery-adventure program titled "Gone Missing." The Nov. 2 first episode documents the disappearance of Michael Rockefeller. Outside correspondent Tim Sohn hosts.

SCHUBERT has INSOMNIA

Glenn Schubert has launched a new promo agency, Insomnia TV. The New York-based agency said it already has been commissioned to produce a yearlong PSA promo campaign to support the launch of A&E Network's new initiative the Recovery Project, which deals with addiction.

HAROLD HURT IN CRASH

"Desperate Housewives" actor Gale Harold was in critical condition Wednesday following a motorcycle crash Tuesday. Harold fractured his shoulder and has swelling on the brain but is expected to recover. The crash should not impact the show's production.
