LABOR UPDATE

Negotiators for the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers met Thursday in Sherman Oaks with the federal mediator assigned to deal with the stalemate over SAG's expired TV/Theatrical contract. At the meeting, mediator Juan Carlos Gonzalez was presented with details of the AMPTP's final offer to SAG. The AMPTP also included "background information on the major labor agreements that AMPTP has reached this year with WGA, DGA and AFTRA, which served as the basis for our final offer to SAG." Gonzalez indicated he would advise both sides as to the next step in the process.

STEWART SOARS

Comedy Central's "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" pulled in its biggest audience ever Wednesday night. The 11 p.m. episode, which featured Barack Obama, averaged 3.6 million total viewers, beating by 600,000 viewers the previous record set Oct. 8, when Michelle Obama appeared.

ELECTION WINNER? 'SNL'

"Saturday Night Live" has gotten a new lease on life in recent months thanks to its politically tinged commentary, walk-ons from Sarah Palin and Tina Fey's guest turns . Saturday's episode averaged 9.3 million viewers and a 3.9 rating/15 share in adults 18-49, Nielsen Media Research said.

HOSTING GIG FOR JAKES

CBS Television Distribution has inked a deal with Tribune Broadcasting to air a daytime talker hosted by Bishop T.D. Jakes, sources said. The show is targeted to launch in fall 2009. CBS declined comment.
