CBS COMEDY GAINS

CBS' one-hour comedy block jumped Wednesday to season-high ratings. In some of the biggest week-over-week gains all season, "The New Adventures of Old Christine" (7.9 million viewers, 2.4 rating/7 share in preliminary adults 18-49) spiked 20%, and "Gary Unmarried" (7.9 million, 2.7/7) leapt 29%. The shows placed second in the 8 p.m. hour and led into chart-topping "Criminal Minds" (16.3 million, 4.2/11), which was up 11% and had its largest audience since its season premiere.

NBC News has made a big pitch to the Facebook generation, offering users of the site the chance to test their knowledge using video from the network's vast archives. The "What's Your iCue?" application offers trivia questions on current events, history, arts and technology.

'DANCING' MISSTEP?

Headlines across the U.K. on Thursday were dominated by news of the departure of former BBC political correspondent John Sergeant from the Saturday night primetime show "Strictly Come Dancing." The BBC received more than 2,000 complaints, and message boards collapsed.
