TV Guide Network Builds Originals Department
A new hire and a promotion grow the cable network's programming push
Little more than a year into its run under new ownership, TV Guide Network is upping its efforts in original programming.
The cable network announced Monday that its originals department is growing with the addition of Jessie Surovell as vp development and the promotion of Kristan Giordano, who'll now serve as vp original programming.
“As TVGN continues to expand its original programming, both Jessie and Kristan will play significant roles in building and managing our growing slate of content,” said senior vp originals and development Paul Adler. “Their unique perspectives, creative voices and complementary skills make them a perfect duo.”
Both Giordano and Surovell will report directly to Adler from TVGN's Los Angeles headquarters, assuming their new roles immediately.
Surovell hails from Shed Media US, a Warner Bros.-owned production company, where she served as executive director of development. While there, she developed such reality fare as Marriage Ref and Bethenny Getting Married. Giordano has been with TVGN since well before the rebrand, most recently serving as an EP.
TVGN continues to up its commitment to originals, most recently launching a docuseries around Jersey Shore vet Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and ordering a show starring members of New Kids on the Block.
