TV Ratings: Megyn Kelly Tops Wednesday After Trump Meeting
'The Kelly File' leads the night, though CNN's Tuesday Trump family town hall is leading the week ahead of the Dem debate.
It didn't even take a minute of Megyn Kelly talking about her Wednesday meeting with Donald Trump to help deliver the night's highest cable news ratings.
Fox News' The Kelly File was Wednesday's top performer among adults 25-54, averaging 419,000 viewers in the key demo and outpacing CNN's Town Hall with Ted Cruz's family and Kelly's lead-out, a Trump interview conducted by network personality Sean Hannity.
News of Kelly and Trump's potential peace brokering at his Trump Tower building spread throughout the day, and the Fox News Channel anchor mentioned it briefly at the top of her telecast. "The meeting was at my request and Mr. Trump was gracious enough to agree to it," she said. "Mr. Trump and I discussed the possibility of an interview, and I hope we will have news to announce on that soon."
The GOP candidate appeared the hour following Kelly, sitting down with Hannity for a telecast that fetched nearly 400,000 viewers in the news demo at 10 p.m.
Kelly and FNC's Wednesday win followed an even stronger Tuesday for CNN. The cable news network set the high bar this week with an average 570,000 adults 25-54 tuning in to the entire Trump clan's sit-down with Anderson Cooper.
CNN eyes even bigger ratings and another likely win on Thursday night with the penultimate debate of the primary cycle. Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are set to face off in Brooklyn, starting at 9 p.m. E.T.
