Twentieth TV Promotes Stephanie Herman to VP Casting
Herman has been credited with casting such 20th TV actors as Krysten Ritter, Geoff Stults, Dakota Johnson and Nick Jonas.
Stephanie Herman has been promoted to vp casting at 20th Century Fox TV.
The news follows a series of noteworthy castings, including placing Krysten Ritter in the lead role on ABC's Don't Trust the B---- in Apt 23 and Dakota Johnson in Fox darling Ben & Kate. Herman is the studio's primary casting agent on ABC's Modern Family and has helped book a series of household names on CBS's How I Met Your Mother, including Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, Martin Short and Becki Newton. Additionally, she cast Geoff Stults in a guest spot on HIMYM, which ultimately led to him signing a talent deal at 20th TV. Through the latter, he was booked first as the lead in Fox's short-lived The Finder and later in an arc on Ben & Kate.
"Stephanie's rise at the studio has been meteoric, and deservedly so," said executive vp talent and casting Sharon Klein, to whom Herman reports. "She is so creative and smart, and she's unbelievably wise beyond her years. Her relationships in both the acting and the agent communities are incredible, and she is beloved by our showrunners, who rely on her enormously, as do I. I feel tremendous pride in her achievements as she is one of a select few executives at this company who has never worked anywhere else -- and hopefully so long as I am here, she never will."
The Los Angeles-based exec joined the studio upon graduating from UC Davis. She began as an assistant and rose through the ranks from coordinator to director to her new role as vp. Casting and talent vp Liz Paulson and manager Lindsey Kasabian report to Klein as well.
