It was released on iTunes Tuesday and ranked No. 14 as of Tuesday morning.

Mars has said the single (which was written and co-produced by his band, Smeezingtons) will be "dark."

"The Twilight movies for me [are] a love story. But it's a dark love story. And I think the best way to describe the song is: it's the darker side of love. I think that pretty much sums it up,” he told Billboard.biz.

The penultimate movie in Stephenie Meyer's vampire saga is due in theaters on Nov. 18 of this year, with Part 2 scheduled for Nov. 16, 2012.

The soundtrack, by Summit Entertainment, Chop Shop Records and Atlantic Records, will hit stores on Nov. 8.
