Twitter May Be Getting Into the E-Commerce Biz
A "buy now" button appeared earlier this week.
It appears Twitter is getting into the e-commerce biz, as it displayed a "Buy Now" button on some tweets earlier this week, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The tweets that popped up with the new function linked to the online shopping site Fancy; Re/code first noticed the functionality back in January. This isn't the first time Twitter has given e-commerce a try. In May, the social media app partnered with Amazon.com to give users an opportunity to add items to their Amazon shopping carts by using the hashtag #AmazonCart.
Given that Twitter's shares have dropped since going public in November, this new feature may be another way for the company to create more revenue.
