Twitter Names New Head of Music
Bob Moczydlowsky, former SVP of product and marketing for TopSpin Media, confirmed the appointment with a tweet. Naturally.
Twitter has named Bob Moczydlowsky, TopSpin Media's former svp product and marketing, as its new head of music. The move, originally reported by AllThingsD and further confirmed by his many "thanks" on Twitter, follows the departure of Twitter's former head of music partnerships Tatiana Simonian last month.
Moczydlowsky is charged with developing music-related partnerships and strengthening Twitter's relationships with influential artists.

Moczydlowsky will presumably have a direct relationship with Twitter's brand-new head of commerce Nathan Hubbard, if his experience in product management and strategy are a useful indicator of his responsibilities at Twitter. As well, Hubbard's statements at the time of his appointment were illustrative of the company's focus on growing sources of revenue alternative to advertising: "We now have a pretty firm commitment to help the music industry sell more goods."
Just last week Twitter announced a partnership with Spotify around its #Music product, aggregating mentions of artists on the social network and curating playlists based on their popularity, likely the sort of business Moczydlowsky will be tasked with drumming up.

Additionally, the company, which has been reported to be leading Google and Facebook in mobile advertising thanks to a forward-thinking focus on that lucrative space, announced earlier this month its intention to file for an initial public offering, predicted to fall somewhere between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The company is valued between $15 and $16 billion.
Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
