Twitter Users Mock Trump's Photo "Writing" His Inaugural Address
"I don't believe for a New York moment that Donald Trump is writing his own inauguration speech."
Twitter users reacted incredulously when President-elect Donald Trump tweeted a photo of himself "writing his inaugural address" earlier today.
In the photo posted on his Twitter account, he is seen sitting at a desk with a pad of paper ready to write the speech he will give on Friday, all set "at the Winter White House, Mar-a-Lago."
Trump will be sworn in as the next president of the United States on Friday in Washington, D.C. Nearly 50 House Democrats have chosen to boycott the event, but Hillary and Bill Clinton have stated they will attend. Former President George W. Bush will also be there.
Twitter users took the opportunity to make the moment into memes and jokes, imagining what Trump's speech might look like. The tweet itself was retweeted more than 13,000 times.
Some celebrities weighed in too, and Tony Schwartz, the ghostwriter for Trump's 1987 book, The Art of the Deal, tweeted: "For the record: I don't believe for a New York moment that Donald Trump is writing his own inauguration speech."
