Two Anne Frank features in works

Van Maarsen memoir provides basis for one feature

Anne Frank figures in two different film projects currently in the works.

Jacqueline van Maarsen's book "My Name Is Anne, She Said, Anne Frank" will be made into a feature film as a joint production of SamFilm and CTM Films BV, to be directed by Ben Verbong.

Separately, Italian International Films is producing "Memories of Anne Frank," a feature adaptation of Alison Leslie Gold's 1997 book "Memories of Anne Frank: Reflections of a Childhood Friend."

Alberto Negrin is attached to direct that film, and will adapt the book with Andrea Porporati and Monica Zappelli. "Frank" is set to begin filming in March in Amsterdam and Bulgaria.

Fulvio Lucisano is producing the feature with exec producers Paola Lucisano, John Thompson and Christian Mercuri. Nu Image is handling worldwide sales.

Negrin knows the terrain well. He helmed the Italian biopic "Perlasca," based on the man who posed as a Spanish official to save Hungarian Jews from the Nazis.
