Two promotions at Vivendi

Soumya Sriraman, Yolanda Macias take on new roles

Soumya Sriraman has been promoted to senior vp theatrical marketing and Yolanda Macias has been upped to senior vp business development and acquisitions at Vivendi Entertainment.

Formerly vp marketing and operations, Sriraman will be responsible for all aspects of theatrical marketing including publicity, promotions, media and creative services as Vivendi Entertainment expands from DVD distribution into theatrical releasing.

Macias, who had held the title of vp business development and acquisitions, will be charged with acquiring films from independent producers and suppliers. She recently negotiated the acquisition of the upcoming "New York, I Love You," which saw Vivendi Entertainment partner with Palm Pictures.

Vivendi Entertainment president Tom O'Malley announced the promotions.

Part of the Universal Music Group family of companies -- which, in turn, is a subsidiary of France's Vivendi -- Los Angeles-based Vivendi Entertainment was launched in September 2004 as a DVD distributor. It has since begun to move into digital, TV and theatrical distribution with plans to release between eight and 14 films per year theatrically.
