U.K. Imax Theaters to Show Digital Remaster of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'

Executive produced by George Lucas, the movie starring Harrison Ford has been restored under the supervision of Spielberg and sound designer Ben Burtt.

The Imax release of Raiders of the Lost Ark will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality with proprietary Imax DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology.

"When I saw the stunning quality of the picture and heard the enhanced sound in an Imax theatre, I was quite literally blown away and hope that audiences will enjoy the experience as much as I did," said Spielberg.

The Imax runs, starting Sept. 21, comes ahead of the film's release on Blu-ray in the U.K. in October this year here from Lucasfilm and Paramount Home Media Distribution and should bolster its prospects.
