U.K. Sales and Finance Company Protagonist Pictures Makes Management Changes
LONDON – Protagonist Pictures, the sales company that counts U.K. broadcaster Channel 4's stanalone film arm Film4, production banner Vertigo Films and financier Ingenious Media among its shareholders, has rung the changes at the top.
Protagonist CEO Mike Goodridge has hired Revolver Entertainment's head of acquisitions David Bishop as joint director of sales alongside Nada Cirjanic, Protagonist's sales director.
Also arriving at Protagonist is Jennifer Fattell, who joins the company from A+E Television Networks as sales manager.
Fattell will report to Cirjanic and Bishop.
“In an invigorating year of change at Protagonist, it’s very exciting to announce our expanded sales team with Nada [Cirjanic] and Dave [Bishop] at the helm,” said Goodridge, who took up the reins as CEO less than six months ago.
Bishop has spent more than 10 years in acquisitions and crosses the table to sales with a C.V. that includes a stint as as vice president, worldwide acquisitions, at Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group (SPWAG) in Los Angeles.
"Dave has a fantastic reputation as a smart deal-maker with good taste and a firm grasp on new distribution models," Goodridge said. "His extensive experience of studio and independent distribution around the world will be invaluable as we expand our slate.”
Goodridge also noted former Channel 4 film library sales chief Cirjanic's contribution to Protagonist's growing sales slate.
Her resume also boasts stints in TV program sales at Granada International, Explore International and MTV Networks International.
Fattell joins Protagonist from A+E Television Networks where she was international program sales executive and contract coordinator based in London since Nov 2010.
In a further internal move within Protagonist, David Bartholomew moves to the newly created role of manager, contracts, markets & festivals.
Bartholomew, who has been at the company since 2008, will continue his oversight of markets and festival bookings.
Protagonist’s current slate includes Frank, Lenny Abrahamson’s comedy featuring Michael Fassbender and Domhnall Gleeson, Kevin Macdonald’s How I Live Now, starring Saoirse Ronan and Richard Ayoade’s The Double starring Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska.
The company is currently repping three movies in the BFI London Film Festival, Australian comedy Save Your Legs, Ben Wheatley’s Sightseers, and Lenny Abrahamson’s Irish drama which premiered in Toronto, What Richard Did.
