U.K.'s October Films Targets U.S. TV Market Amid Restructuring
Denman Rooke transitions to executive chairman of the 'World War II From Space' producer
U.K. TV producer October Films has restructured as it targets more U.S. TV development and production via a newly launched New York City office.
Managing director Denman Rooke becomes executive chairman of the British firm as he continues developing TV shows for the U.K. and international markets. Creative director Adam Bullmore is promoted to managing director, overseeing business strategy and strategic alliances.
The October Films shakeup includes head of development Matt Robins being named creative director to drive new development and production in the U.S. and the U.K. markets. “The idea behind the restructure and new hires is to ensure we keep enhancing our reputation for delivery and at the same time capitalize on the exciting growth we’ve achieved over the last three years," Bullmore said in a statement on Thursday.
Other appointments include naming Jane Manning director, production and operations and Raw TV's Jos Cushing (Gold Rush) being hired as executive producer. To expand its U.S. slate, Robins is shuttling between London and New York City as the U.S. office fills with new hires.
October Films is best known for TV documentary fare like World War II From Space for History Channel and You Have Been Warned for Discovery Channel. Recent growth at October Films has come from U.S. expansion with shows for ID, History, Discovery Science, Discovery International, TLC U.S. and LMN.
U.S. TV credits also include ID's Obsession: Dark Desires, now in its second season, and Outrageous Acts of Science for Discovery Science.
