UKTV Inks Deal to Bring 'Haunted Highway' To British Viewers
The digital pay tv operator signs multi program deal with NBCUniversal for factual output.
LONDON -- Digital TV operator UKTV's flagship pay-tv channel Watch has inked a deal with NBCUniversal to bring multiple seasons of three fresh factual entertainment programs -- Haunted Highway, Haunted Collector and Hollywood Treasure -- to British viewers.
Haunted Highway follows two teams, Jack Osbourne and Dana Workman and Jael de Pardo and Devin Marble, as they do their own first-person investigations of frightening claims of paranormal activity along America's remote back roads.
The six strong first season will feature examinations and investigations that will take the teams off the beaten path in Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, Arkansas and Louisiana as they seek hellhounds, skin walkers, ghosts and other paranormal phenomena.
In Haunted Collector, the Zaffis family believe ghosts and spirits inhabit more than just homes and buildings -- they can live in objects too. The show sees the family track down haunted items such as paintings, guns, jewelry and dolls.
Hollywood Treasure follows Joe Maddalena, owner of Profiles in History – the world’s largest auctioneer of original Hollywood collectibles -- as he navigates his way through the intricate world of acquiring showbiz and pop culture memorabilia.
Watch general manager Steve Hornsey said: "Haunted Highway, Haunted Collector and Hollywood Treasure complements Watch’s strong line-up of ‘out of the ordinary’ programming in 2013, which already includes Beauty and the Beast, The Jonathan Goodwin project (title TBC), Primeval: New World and the third season of Dynamo."
UKTV’s head of acquisitions and co-productions Alexandra Finlay, who brokered the deal, said: "These new programmes fit perfectly within Watch’s remit to provide new content with a distinctive twist."
