Uni falls in with 'Bastards' ranks
EmptyUniversal is in negotiations to partner with the Weinstein Co. on "Inglorious Bastards," Quentin Tarantino's World War II project.
Universal would co-finance the film and handle overseas distribution.
Lawrence Bender is producing, while the Weinstein Co. is overseeing the production.
No cast has been set, but Tarantino has met with Brad Pitt for a lead role. The movie is eyeing an October start in Berlin.
Tarantino wrote the script, which has two story lines that converge: One follows a group of prisoners-turned-soldiers whose mission is to take down a group of Nazis, and the other follows a young Jewish woman who seeks to avenge the death of her parents by the same Nazi group. (partialdiff)
