MIPTV 2012: Universal Channel U.K. to Air ‘King’ Starring Amy Price-Francis and U.S. Ensemble ‘Breakout Kings’
NBC Universal Global Networks buys exclusive U.K. pay-TV rights to the shows.
LONDON – British TV viewers are to get a taste of Canadian Series King Starring Amy Price-Francis and U.S. ensemble Breakout Kings.
The two shows have been snapped up by NBC Universal’s pay TV branded offering Universal Channel for a U.K. airing later this month.
King stars Price-Francis as the eponymous lead character, a sassy detective sergeant abruptly promoted to the head of the major crimes task force, a special squad that is parachuted in when cases are in crisis.
Breakout Kings is a new crime drama from the writers of Prison Break, and follows two US Marshals who throw out the rule book and start using former fugitives to catch current ones.
Universal Channel acquired the exclusive U.K. premiere TV rights to Kings from Germany’s Beta Film and sealed a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Televison Distribution for Breakout Kings.
King is produced by Indian Grove Productions in association with Shaw Media, and executive produced by Greg Spottiswood and Bernard Zuckerman.
Created, written and executive produced by Nick Santora and Matt Olmstead, Breakout Kings season one and two is snared by Universal Channel for exclusive U.K. premiere TV rights and is produced by Fox 21 and Twentieth Century Fox.
