Universal Pictures Taps Multicultural Marketing VPs

Fabian Castro and Talitha Watkins to work on outreach efforts to Hispanic and African-American audiences.

Fabian Castro and Talitha Watkins have joined Universal Pictures as vps of multicultural marketing. Reporting to co-president of marketing Michael Moses, they will work across all marketing divisions on outreach efforts to African-American and Hispanic audiences for titles across the Universal slate.

Castro, who specializes in marketing to the Hispanic population, most recently served as director of brand development for Hearst's Food Network Magazine. He spent the previous eight years at various Time Warner publications.

Watkins, who focuses on African-American moviegoers, comes to Uni from Telepictures Prods., where she served as assistant general manager responsible for overseeing operations, sales and marketing for five female-focused digital properties in the Warner Bros. portfolio.

"With a moviegoing audience that is growing more diverse, we want to continue to develop consistent, culturally relevant outreaches to multicultural consumers," Moses said. "Fabian and Talitha are incredible professionals whose insights, energy and experience have already influenced our work on upcoming campaigns with exciting new dimensions."
