Since Universal doesn't have a stable of superheroes, it's looking to its library of monsters to create a sweeping franchise; Tom Cruise is set to star in 'The Mummy,' while Johnny Depp has signed up for 'The Invisible Man.'

Universal has staked out a third release date for one of its monster universe event movies — Feb. 15, 2019 — but isn't revealing the title.

The studio's ambitious plan to revive and reimagine its classic library kicks off on June 9, 2017, when The Mummy starring Tom Cruise hits theaters. Producers Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan are leading the initiative.

Universal had previously set a second untitled monster movie for April 13, 2018.

One movie that's in the running for 2018 or 2019 is The Invisible Man. In February, Johnny Depp closed a deal to star in the reboot.

The studio has a writers room with elite scribes, overseen by Kurtzman and Morgan, who are tackling reboots of the entire line of Universal’s classic monsters; sources say Ed Solomon, best known for writing Men in Black and Now You See Me, is writing Invisible Man.

Universal also is pursuing Phantom of the Opera and Creature From the Black Lagoon, according to insiders.
