Universal Studios Caught Watering Again During Day
A cellphone video recorded a sprinkler raining down water onto vehicles on the nearby 101 Freeway in Universal City.
A sprinkler on Universal Studios' theme-park property was gushing water on Friday near the 101 Freeway, reported CBS.
A cellphone video showed the sprinkler running around 1:15 p.m. alongside the 101 near Barham Boulevard in Universal City, raining down water onto vehicles. In light of California's current drought, outdoor watering is prohibited from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
An NBCUniversal representative told CBS that a broken sprinkler was to blame and now has been fixed.
"NBCUniversal has a long history of being an environmentally conscious organization," said the company in a statement. "Now more than ever, we are focused on existing and new water-conservation measures, which include using recycled water across the property for land irrigation, landscaping with drought-tolerant plants and transitioning to all low-flow and waterless facilities."
According to CBS, this is the same location where another phone video captured sprinklers running during the day last month.
