Universal Studios Announces 'VIP Experience' Tour
The full-day guided excursion will give movie fans unprecedented access to the lot's costume and props warehouses.
Universal Studios Hollywood is putting fans right in the middle of its movie-making action with an enhanced VIP Experience tour option. The full-day service, which costs $299 per visitor, takes guests on a guided tour around the studio’s backlots, offering unprecedented access to areas that were previously off-limits to the general public.
A professional guide leads small groups on a behind-the-scenes look at the historic location where scores of classic movies like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Psycho were shot.
There will be both foot and trolley tours of the studio’s backlot sets, used in movies like Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean and Back to the Future, among many others. Guests will also be allowed to walk around and explore the sets of shows such as Parenthood, The Mindy Project, and Chelsea Lately.
Another aspect of the tour is a visit to the Edith Head Building, which houses both the Universal costume department and the prop house, which holds over 400,000 “singularly unique items representing virtually every set dressing and handheld article ever created," according to a press release. The experience will also allow guests to explore the studio’s sound department.
Valet car service, and a catered breakfast and lunch, are also included during the tour, as are front-of-line privileges and reserved seating on all of the Universal Studios rides and attractions.
