Universal Television Taps Comedy Development Executive
Former BermanBraun scripted TV head Andy Weil has joined the studio.
Universal Television has tapped Andy Weil as vice president of comedy development, it was announced by executive vice president Bela Bajaria.
Weil, who will report to senior vice president of comedy development Tracey Pakosta, joins a newly formed development team at Universal TV, formerly known as Universal Media Studios. Russell Rothberg and Erin Underhill make up the studio's drama development team.
"Andy has great creative instincts, strong relationships, and a good track record in selling comedies. He'll be a wonderful addition to our already strong team at Universal TV," said Bajaria.
Weil most recently was head of scripted TV at BermanBraun, where he oversaw the development of Syfy's Alphas for four years and NBC's The Cape. He also had a hand in Lifetime pilot Modern Love.
Universal TV is the studio behind Prime Suspect, Smash, Grimm, Up All Night, Whitney, The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, House and Parenthood, among others.
