Universal Television Taps Chris Sanagustin to Head Current Programming

Universal Television has tapped veteran exec Chris Sanagustin to head current programming for Universal Television.
In the newly created role, Sanagustin will oversee all Universal Television-produced dramas and comedies. She comes by way of Universal Cable Productions, where she served as SVP current and development programming in recent years.
“Chris has demonstrated an impressive talent for nurturing shows on air and helping them succeed and grow throughout her career at UCP and Syfy," said Universal TV EVP Bela Bajaria in a statement. “She has earned the respect and admiration of the creative community for her storytelling instincts in both comedy and drama — and we’re thrilled to have her on-board to help shape the future of Universal Television.”
At UCP, Sanagustin oversaw such scripted series as Syfy’s Warehouse 13, Eureka and Alphas along with shepherding the network’s upcoming transmedia series, Defiance. Prior to UCP, Sanagustin was a programming executive at Syfy, and before that SVP of current programming at The WB.
“It’s been a true honor working with Chris over these past five years, first as an executive at Syfy and then at UCP. Her intelligence, passion, and deft leadership has been instrumental in building Syfy and UCP’s strong slate of scripted series," said Mark Stern, president original content at Syfy and UCP's co-head of original content. "I know she’ll be an amazing asset to Bela, and we wish her all the best in her new endeavors at Universal Television.”
