Univision Morning Show Star Alfonso 'Poncho' De Anda to Host Weight Loss Show
The weekly "Dale con Ganas" ("Give It Your All") comes from "Biggest Loser" creator David Broome.
NEW YORK - Alfonso “Poncho” de Anda, co-host of Univision’s top rated morning program Despierta America (Wake-Up America), will host the network's of weight-loss show Dale con Ganas (Give It Your All), the Spanish-language broadcaster said Wednesday.
He has been co-host of Despierta America since 2010. Prior to joining Univision, he served as host for such programs as Emilio Estefan’s reality show Nuevas Voces de America.
The previously announced weekly show is from Dave Broome, the creator and executive producer of The Biggest Loser, and executive producer Estefan. It features a competition involving four families with four members each, ensuring a real-life family novela, Univision said. It also features celebrity guests and weekly surprises.
Set in LA, the weekly broadcast is co-produced by Broome’s 25/7 Productions and Estefan Film and Television Productions in collaboration with Univision Studios.
"Obesity in the Hispanic/Latino community has reached epidemic levels,” said Broome. “I'm excited to be making a television series that is part novela and part competition, which offers a unique way for an audience to be entertained and inspired.
“Dale Con Ganas will inspire families of all generations to achieve their personal and physical goals in life," said Estefan. "It is an innovative approach and an emotional journey of four families that will impact their lives forever.”
Trainers Maria Simon, Marcelo Crudele, Oscar Luna and Luis Alberto Aracena will work with the four families.
Dale con Ganas spans 12 episodes over the course of 12 weeks, culminating in an in-studio live-to-tape finale where one family will win the grand prize of $100,000.
