Uptown vs. Downtown: Barneys New York's Best-Sellers By the Hood
This is what customers are buying at the Madison Ave. storefront and new Chelsea location, according to Barneys New York senior fashion director Tomoko Ogura.
Upper East Side fashion mecca Barneys New York recently opened a sleek store on 16th St. in Chelsea, but it's more than the 45 blocks that divide them as its senior fashion director, Tomoko Ogura, reveals what's 'It' in the two locales.
"The Madison Avenue clientele visit the store routinely — looking for essential pieces that are missing from their wardrobe," notes Ogura. While "Chelsea customers are responding to special pieces that are also versatile, so they can be worn everyday."
UPTOWN: Chloe suede patchwork shoulder bag with chain detail; $2,650.
