U.S. Producer Picks Up Quebec Drama Format 'Appearances'

France's Samka also has optioned the Canadian psychological thriller from Pixcom

U.S. producer Intrigue has optioned the format rights to the Quebec psychological thriller Appearances.

The award-winning 10-episode one-hour drama, which airs on Radio Canada, tells the story of one twin sister, a school teacher, who goes missing on their 40th birthday. It leaves the other twin, a well-known actress, with her life upended.

The Montreal-based Pixcom also sold the option for the Appearances format to French producer Samka.

Pixcom already has three U.S. versions of its original Canadian formats airing stateside: Thrift Hunters on Spike, Dangerous Flights on the Smithsonian Channel and Restoration Garage on Velocity.

Pixcom is producing a new drama, Karl/Marx, for Quebec's TVA network, which will star Charles Lafortune and Guy Jodoin.
