USA Network Ups Bill McGoldrick to Exec VP Original Scripted Programming
The executive will continue to oversee development of the network's original comedy, drama, longform and event programming in his new position.
USA Network has promoted veteran executive Bill McGoldrick from senior vp to executive vp original scripted programming.
In his new position, McGoldrick -- who first joined USA in 1998 as an executive assistant -- he'll continue to oversee the development of all of the NBCUniversal-owned cabler's scripted efforts, including drama, comedy, longform and event programming.
“Bill has an incredible track record in developing and managing the success of our strong and diverse slate of scripted programming,” USA co-president and co-head of original content Jeff Wachtel said in a statement announcing the news Tuesday. “We know he will continue to lead the network to even greater achievements, this summer and beyond.”
USA will expand its slate of original scripted fare this summer, launching what it dubs is its most ambitious slate of originals spawning five nights a week where new series Common Law and political mini Political Animals will join a summer lineup that includes Royal Pains, Necessary Roughness, Burn Notice, Suits, White Collar and Covert Affairs.
Following a stint as vp original series programming at Spike from 2005-07, McGoldrick returned to USA in '09, working on primetime efforts for USA and Syfy, including The Invisible Man, Monk, Psych and The 4400.
McGoldrick continues to report to Wachtel, who is co-president alongside Chris McCumber at the net.
