CANNES -- China's powerful Shanghai Media Group has launched a user-generated content strategy with three shows on three of its youth-focused cable channels.

The announcement was made Monday on the opening day of the MIPTV programming market.

The shows on lifestyle service Channel Young, music channel IN Star TV and Si TV Game Channel are offered as part of a deal for Auditions TV interactive software with Los Angeles-based media company, fix8.

One of the programs, midnight talk show "Stay With You Till Dawn," has been running in test mode since the end of last year, fix8 chief executive officer Linh Tang said.

The agreement with SMG involves a combination of licensing fee and revenue share, Tang said.

Fix8, which opened an office in Shanghai in September, said this is the first user-generated television content in China. Fix8 also has a development office in Vietnam.

Negotiations also are under way for user-generated content applications with a telecommunications operator in Korea, and a broadcaster in the Philippines.

A Korea announcement is expected next week, Tang said.
