UTA Signs Comedy Troupe Behind 'Impractical Jokers' (Exclusive)
The Tenderloins are the creators and stars of the unscripted series, which TruTV has renewed for a fifth season.
UTA has signed comedy troupe The Tenderloins, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. The group will remain with Matt Horowitz and Alan Braun at CAA for unscripted television.
Best known for creating, executive producing, writing and starring in the hidden-camera series Impractical Jokers, which TruTV has renewed for a fifth season, The Tenderloins hail from Staten Island and comprise Sal Vulcano, Joe Gatto, James “Murr” Murray and Brian “Q” Quinn. Impractical Jokers marked its 100th episode on Sept. 3 with a “Live Punishment Special,” which was hosted by Howie Mandel and attracted 3.7 million viewers. With 150 million social media impressions during the telecast, the episode reached top three in the Nielsen social media ratings.
The Tenderoins currently are traveling on their sold-out truTV Impractical Jokers Where’s Larry? Tour, with more than 8,000 fans turning out per market, before they embark on the “Impractical Jokes Cruise,” a comedy festival that will travel from Miami to Cozumel, Mexico in January. The group grew its popularity on the sketch comedy circuit as well as on social media and broke out by taking the $100,000 grand prize on NBC’s comedy competition It’s Your Show, hosted by Carson Daly, and have had pilots with Spike TV, A&E, TBS and VH1.
