Valderrama works with Fremantle
EmptyWilmer Valderrama has signed a first-look deal with FremantleMedia North America to develop and launch future series concepts on an international scale.
Valderrama and his production company, WV Enterprises, have teamed with FMNA, producers of such TV shows as Fox's "American Idol" and CBS' "The Price Is Right," to develop and launch projects in the scripted and unscripted arenas in the U.S. and other territories.
Valderrama, who will serve as executive producer and might star in certain projects, will set up offices in FMNA's corporate headquarters in Burbank along with his producing partner Danny Villa, a former director of talent and series development at MTV.
FMNA CEO Cecile Frot-Coutaz called Valderrama a "talented tour de force."
"He and Danny are very gifted producers with a keen sensibility for entertaining content that appeals to their generation," she said.
Added Valderrama: "I'm thrilled to partner up with such a groundbreaking company as FremantleMedia and to share ideas for new and original concepts that promise to be influential for not only youth but for all demographics around the world."
Valderrama, best known as Fez on Fox's "That '70s Show," most recently appeared on the big screen in "Fast Food Nation." He also is the creator, producer and host of the MTV series "Yo Momma," now in its third season, and voices title role in Disney Channel's animated series "Handy Manny."
Next up, Valderrama is attached to star as Ponch in Warner Bros. Pictures' feature film version of "CHiPs," and his company is developing "PartyBuddys" with Universal Pictures.
He is repped by UTA, Rigberg Entertainment Group and attorney Michael Gendler.
FMNA's credits also include NBC's "America's Got Talent" and "Thank God You're Here," the syndicated game show "Family Feud" and Oxygen's "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency."
