Vendome Pictures Nabs Ray Wright's Spec 'The Widow'
Vendome Pictures has acquired Ray Wright’s spec The Widow.
Vendome CEO Philippe Rousselet will produce the film alongside Steve Golin and Alix Madigan of Anonymous Content.
The psychological thriller centers on a young woman who befriends a lonely widow only to discover that their encounter was not a coincidence.
Vendome will also finance The Widow and is currently seeking a director, with plans to begin production this year.
“The Widow is one of those rare pieces that is as interesting and different as it is commercial,” Rousselet said. “Ray’s script, which is so nuanced and surprising both in terms of plot and character, is certain to garner attention from some of the smartest and most dynamic filmmakers and talent. We look forward to putting it together over the coming months."
Vendome’s Guy Stodel and Sarah Schweitzman will oversee the project on behalf of Vendome.
The company’s development slate includes Bastille Day, the futuristic thriller What Happened to Monday? and the Ken Kwapis directing vehicle Alive & Well.
Anonymous’ recent credits include such awards-season contenders as Winter’s Bone, Babel and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Wright’s credits include The Crazies starring Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell.
He is repped by UTA and attorney Mark Temple.
